Reflective Narrative
The classes above all helped me to polish my skills regarding technologies that would be used to complete my Capstone project, as well as use in any other class that required the use of partnership through technology. PreCapstone class began this process through the use lessons taught by one of our school's librarians, who in turn helped us to use the library's online catalog and archive system in order to find scholarly articles or books relevant to our Capstone. Through the use of data collection management websites or applications, such as Zotero, my partner and I were able to effectively begin organization of research sources. The database GenderWatch and WestLaw were particularly helpful as our Capstone subject deals with transgender identities. For Japanese related articles and other resources the database Cinii was used (4.1). The results of our initial research using the library's catalog can be seen in sample 1. In JAPN 404 the use of Google Docs and Slides was highly effective between my partner and I as we were not always able to meet together. WLC 400 helped us to refine our skills with using Google applications. Through the use of Google Form, my partner and I were able to complete an English and Japanese survey with which the responses were used to create our research findings in the forms of graphs and pie charts made using Microsoft Excel. With our collected research findings and survey results, my partner and I finalized this information into an English and Japanese powerpoint using Google Slides. Our completed slides were then used to transfer the information to our research papers, sample 2 (4.2 & 4.3). Please be sure to click on the "Capstone Project" tab to view our completed presentations, scripts, and essays. Linked below is a sample of a Google Slides presentation used in WLC 400.
